MENCON has extensive experience in providing
diverse yet focused engineering support to the mining industry. The list
below is representative of the type of work we perform:
Mine Planning and Design:
Mencon has been involved in several successful projects:

Mencon played a lead role in the feasibility
analysis, planning, construction, and operation of one of the newest
underground coal mines in the United States.

Several operators have relied on Mencon to
prepare mining plans and cost analyses of new or proposed operations. This
work has included new mines, mine expansions, and new mining methods
(mobile roof supports, highwall mining, etc).

Internationally, Mencon has provided
detailed analysis and direction for a major mine expansion project in
Australia.
Feasibility Studies:
Mencon has participated in several feasibility studies, including:

Evaluation of a major underground mine
expansion for an Australian longwall operator.

Establishing a world-class longwall facility
at a high-ratio surface mine in the southwestern United States.

Evaluation and mine design for a multi-seam
longwall operation in the western United States.
-
Permitting and preliminary mine design for
the first potential underground coal mine in Alaska since the 1960s.
Engineering Support:
We have provided specialized services, such as:

BLM Royalty Rate reduction applications:
Mencon has prepared and successfully achieved significant reductions in
the BLM royalty on western coal.

Permits/Regulatory Plans: We have prepared
and received approval for Resource Recovery and Protection (R2P2) plans,
exploration licenses, mine permits, and several other actions that
required close cooperation with regulatory agencies.

Ventilation System Analysis, Simulation, and
Design: Mencon has performed ventilation surveys, and completed extensive
ventilation system simulation, analysis, and design at major mines in the
United States and abroad.

Comprehensive Mine Planning: We have
provided mine planning, equipment selection and specification, mine
systems design, infrastructure design, and other related services to major
mining operations.

As PE’s, we inspect and certify
environmental structures including dams, ponds, refuse piles, and
impoundments.

Environmental Audits.
Professional Engineering:
Mencon personnel are Registered Professional Engineers in all the major
mining states.
